Independent detection and extinguishing zones connected to the same extinguishing container:
With the use of self-developed fine spray nozzles in combination with ultra-fast fire detection, protecfire is able to achieve optimal extinguishing results even without high-pressure technology. This allows emerging fires to be detected at a very early stage and the extinguishing process to be initiated as early as possible.
protecfire works with fine spray technology and the liquid extinguishing agent TiborRex Absolute (see data sheet), which is sprayed as fine droplets in the engine compartment with the extinguishing nozzles.
This ensures that the extinguishing medium absorbs large amounts of heat energy in the extinguishing process. The remaining extinguishing agent on the surfaces after the extinguishing process provides a lasting suffocating cover for the source of the fire. This optimally counteracts a possible re-ignition.
The protecfire fire extinguishing system does not need any external energy for its detection as well as for the extinguishing agent application. The system works one hundred percent self-sufficiently and is pressureless in the operating state.
Due to the very high quality standard in production, selection of materials and processing, the protecfire extinguishing system can be operated for up to 10 years without replacement of parts, depending on use and application.
From a thermal point of view, the engine compartment is not a homogeneous installation space. Different temperature zones require differentiated temperature detection.
Peak temperatures, which would still be tolerable in the vicinity of the exhaust system, can already represent a fire risk in the vicinity of electrical components.
Based on this knowledge, protecfire has created the possibility of using different temperatures in the engine compartment for practical detection. This range of possible triggering temperatures extends from 68° C to 110° C, 141° C, 182° C and 260° C.
Already in the development stage, protecfire pursued the constructive goal of combining components in an intelligent and innovative way. This idea resulted in the single line system for detection and extinguishing “detexline”.
By combining the detection and extinguishing line in one and the same line, material and assembly performance are noticeably simplified and costs are reduced.
The term detexline is derived from the abbreviation of the three words “detection”, “extinguishing” and “line” and thus summarizes the concept of the single line system for detection and extinguishing in terms of function and content.
This document includes a fire-testing procedure for fire suppression systems for engine compartments of buses and coaches and includes four tests extracted from SP Method 4912 (SP is a Technical Service for UNECE Regulation No. 107)
The requirements of fire suppression systems apply to: single-deck double-deck rigid or articulated vehicles Category M2 or M3 and specifically vehicles having a capacity exceeding 22 passengers in addition to the driver – “Class III”. Class III vehicles are constructed exclusively for the carriage of seated passengers, more commonly referred to as “coaches”.

SMALL AND EFFECTIVE!
Avoiding the usual fuse plastic tube detection, there is only one path to the system work: stainless-steel or galvanized piping with pneumatic activation from the detection, followed by the liquid agent discharge by the same piping.
Patented technology!
detexline® by protecfire®, is a patented system that uses only one network of piping for detection and extinguishing.
TiboRex Absolute is a ready-to-use liquid special extinguishing agent without the addition of fluorochemicals for the highly effective extinguishing of solid fires (fire class A), liquids, non-polar hydrocarbons (fire class B) and edible fats and oils. The special formulation, whose main components are also used as food additives, guarantees exceptional extinguishing performance with unprecedented environmental protection.
The fire-suppression system is based on the principle of a fine spray extinguishing system. The protecfire nozzles spray the extinguishing agent TiboRex Absolute as very fine droplets. The extinguishing agent droplets wet, impregnated and cool the burning surfaces.
Through reflections and turbulence, the extinguishing agent also reaches adjacent areas, which enables the entire engine compartment to be protected.
– Unpressurised standby mode for improved safety: The fire-suppression system is not pressurized until it is triggered.
– Low maintenance: first regular component replacement after 5 years.
– Self-sustaining without external energy: protecfire suppression systems operate pneumatically-mechanically. This means that they do not require any additional power supply.
– Automatic and/or manual triggering: Automatic triggering is effected by fire detection elements. The fire-suppression system can also be triggered by a pneumatic manual release mechanism.
protecfire uses thermopneumatic fire detection elements to detect fire. These elements only trigger the fire-suppression system if a specified temperature is exceeded. Failure due to the failure of electrical components is thus ruled out.
Fire detection elements with different triggering temperatures can be used because the engine compartment is not a thermally homogeneous area, but contains different temperature zones.
The fire detection elements are connected to a combined control and extinguishing line, the detexline. When a fire detection element is heated to its trigger temperature, a mechanism opens the built-in argon propellant cartridge. This causes an increase in pressure in the line. The pressure increase opens an N2 propellant cartridge in the extinguishing agent container. The released propellant presses the extinguishing agent through the line to the extinguishing nozzles.

The system is free of dangers and easy to install. It can be installed in any vehicle: Construction, mining, buses, mini-buses, vans, motorhomes, jeeps, racing cars, etc.
diesel, electric or gas
The thermal detectors are placed in the upper area of the engine, in order to detect unusual heat accumulations, through temperatures previously chosen, normally our Kit for buses comes with 180ºC in the detection. In areas such as Park compartment, another lower temperature can be chosen, such as 130ºC. The dispersion nozzles are aimed at critical areas of the engine, such as turbo, exhaust, etc. This distribution makes point-to-point efficacy during extinction.
The system is applied in critical areas: engine compartment and park. It can also be applied to wheels and interiors. This system is modular and can be applied wherever desired.
TiboRex Absolute is a liquid extinguishing agent, in order to be safe and effective. Electrical components may be affected, but in any case they would be damaged by the onset of fire. All other equipment is never affected and subsequent cleaning is quick and easy. Other types of extinguishing agent (powder, gas, etc.) would not be as effective, as they can be expelled by the vehicle’s progress, not acting on fire.
No. Depending on the size and layout of the compartment. In the case of a bus engine, the job is done in about 3 hours maximum. The system is easy to assemble and also to disassemble.
No. Our system is accurate and detects temperatures with precision. Depending on the location where the thermal sensors are placed, a specific temperature is chosen only when the compartment reaches that exact temperature.
No. Our nozzles are designed to stay clean and unobstructed. Engine compartments are specifically designed, maintaining their effectiveness throughout their service life.
